And its Fedex again!

I couldnt stop myself.I have to mention it here.

Roger Federer has done it again. He has made history, this time too with as much panache and class as always. He won the Wimbledon a few hours back, his 15th Grand Slam title, which made him surpass the legendary Pete Sampras who has won 14.The victory reiterates his status as the greatest player ever.

The arena, where an historic final was played, last year between Rafa & Federer with the latter having to condescend to the former after more than 5 hours of gruelling match, witnessed a clash this year which was no less an epic.Fedex beat Andy Roddick, who put up an impressive fight nonetheless and who would have been as deserving,if not more, had he won the title.

However, heres to the ultimate player who deserves every bit of the recognition he gets.

Way to go,Fedex
Way to go,Fedex

  1. Oh…Roger Federer is really a legend!!!
Federer tennis’s greatest champion..wonder how can some one achieve so much in such a short time!!! Plenty more are waiting…wonder what number he’ll end up with.

Feel sad for Roddick as i think he also deserved a victory!!! Never mind in sports one has to win n one has to loose to make the lovely sport actually a winner!!!!

D: Yes,Nazish, with the kind of defence Roddick put up,he would have been as deserving to win as Federer. He did manage really well to take the match to a five-setter and on top of that, pulled 16games out of Fedex in the final set…thats no mean feat

  2. You know what, Deeps, I thought of you when I heard of it πŸ™‚
I knew you would be over the moon πŸ™‚

D: I was,Smitha…I was literally galloping around the house and with me,Namnam too πŸ˜†

I could not watch the match though 😦

D: Oh,it was worth every penny…I’m sure there would be umpteen re-runs,so all is not lost,Smits:)

Congratulations to him! Apparently, he has become the most successful player of all time πŸ™‚
D:Yes,and it was a delight to watch legends like Pete Sampras,Rod Laver& Bjorn Borg sitting there and applauding him for that πŸ™‚ .
And you know what,Smitha,it was as endearing to watch his pregnant wife cheer for him in that scorching heat. It was an ‘awwww’ scene…his baby is really proving to be lucky for him:)

  3. wISH yesterday’s match would have had no winner… it was heart breaking … !!

D: I know, much as I was cheering for Federer,my heart went out to Roddick too…he so deserved to win the match,as much! But then thats what happens in any game…there has to be a winner…and Federer just happened to have that slight edge πŸ™‚

  4. Was thinking about u when he won. Watched it between small naps.
Like hitchwrite said above, it was really sad to see Roddick lose.

D: ha ha ha you thought of me when he won??? I was ecstatic here! AS for Roddick,I feel bad too but what to do thats a part of the game you win and you lose too!

  5. Oh what a match it was. 16-14 .. what an epic of a final to remember. After Nadal vs Federer last season, we cud not have been happy with anything less. And congrats to all the Federer fans ; me belongs to the Nadal fan club πŸ˜›

D: Oh you’re a Nadal fan?? Yesterday’s match was a treat to watch though πŸ™‚

  6. This is the 3rd post I’m reading on Federer’s win!!!!
It was a GREAT match indeed and either of them could have won….
CONGRATULATIONS to all you FEDERER fans!

D: Yes,absolutely it could have tilted either ways…just that Fedex had a slight edge in the end πŸ™‚

  7. Hey thanks for knocking..woken up…

well i felt yesterday Roddick deserved to win …

Would Roddick would have felt..Why this world is unfair to me, when i am so deserving?..
i remembered this quote -“Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian” -Dennis wholey…

D: Hey,good to have you back. That was very well quoted πŸ™‚

    1. yeah no1 coz I remember your excitement on your old blogspot blog also πŸ˜€

D: hee hee..yeah I was excited when he won the French Open…but this time I’m super excited as this match was one helluva match:D .Roddick gave him a brilliant fight!

  8. Everyone is writing about Federer’s win, I too thought of writing one. Then thought otherwise, I will comment in all the Fed posts!

Yes, he deserved to win, though Roddick played better in more areas. Roger’s experience helped him to win, this time. I too am a Federer fan – my whole family! But last time we appreciated Nadal and this time Roddick too. It is not easy to play opposite a smiling face tough guy!

D: You too,Sandhya??..My family too is a die-hard Federer fan-my father, brother, husband and myself πŸ™‚ . You’re right it was Roger’s experience that really helped him clinch it in the end.

Did you notice – Roddick said while receiving his prize to Pete: “Pete, I did my best to help you keep the record, but couldn’t!” Federer too praised Roddick and last time Nadal, whole heartedly. Roddick too appreciated Federer. I love this nature of these sportsmen, Deeps.

D: Yes yes,I did,and I really felt bad for Roddick. This sportman spirit is such a treat to watch isnt it? Federer and Nadal, despite being arch rivals, have immense respect for each other. You remember how Nadal stood by Federer’s side when he was all shattered and in tears after losing the Australian open? That was so humbling πŸ™‚

  9. When he won, I said to myself, “Deeps will be overjoyed :)”

    D: Ha Ha Ha…BTW,your new gravatar looks great,A πŸ™‚

  10. yay !!! fedex prev seen you over fails !!! he is awesome .. glad the losing streak is over .. i njust hated it when he lost to Rafa everytime .. i am sooo glad !!!! ..was wondering why u hadnt posted in a while and realised that i forgot to update thenew url ..silly me !! tons to read and catch up with ..

D: Yes,same here…I used to be totally depressed when Fedex had that lull going on.Now he seems to have got his groove back πŸ™‚
    No wonder I’ve notor a while.Hope you’ve updated my new URL πŸ™‚

  11. totally lost track here..those were the days of monica seles and steffi graf when i used to get hooked on to sunday tv..i have no clue whats goin on now!!

D:To know about the updates on Federer you can rely on this page πŸ˜€ !But yes women’s tennis has had a slump after Graff retired.Graf and Seles rivalry used to be a treat to watch πŸ™‚

  12. Yes, I remember Nadal’s feelings at that time. I love these guys for being so nice people. They always appreciate each other even when they lose their match to the other person.

Remember Chris Evert and Navratilova? They were very good friends, off the court!

I was an Agassi fan earlier!

D: me too me too…a huge Agassi fan πŸ™‚ Oh yes,Chris Evert-Navaratilova matches were always a treat to watch πŸ™‚

  13. Sigh…you and my husband really knows where to hit me. Fedex yay I am looking forward to see his baby. psst psst…I did your tag ok?? hope you won’t hit me with the Fedex special racket…
