I couldnt stop myself.I have to mention it here.
Roger Federer has done it again.He has made history,this time too with as much panache and class as always. He won the Wimbledon a few hours back,his 15th Grand Slam title, which made him surpass the legendary Pete Sampras who has won 14.The victory reiterates his status as the greatest player ever.
The arena,where an historic final was played,last year between Rafa & Federer with the latter having to condescend to the former after more than 5 hours of gruelling match,witnessed a clash this year which was no less an epic.Fedex beat Andy Roddick,who put up an impressive fight nonetheless and who would have been as deserving,if not more,had he won the title.
However,heres to the ultimate player who deserves every bit of the recognition he gets.

Oh…Roger Federer is really a legend!!!
Federer tennis’s greatest champion..wonder how can some one achieve so much in such a short time!!! Plenty more are waiting…wonder what number he’ll end up with.
Feel sad for Roddick as i think he also deserved a victory!!! Never mind in sports one has to win n one has to loose to make the lovely sport actually a winner!!!!
D: Yes,Nazish, with the kind of defence Roddick put up,he would have been as deserving to win as Federer. He did manage really well to take the match to a five-setter and on top of that,pulled 16games out of Fedex in the final set…thats no mean feat

Congratulations to him! Apparently, he has become the most successful player of all time 🙂
D:Yes,and it was a delight to watch legends like Pete Sampras,Rod Laver& Bjorn Borg sitting there and applauding him for that 🙂 .
And you know what,Smitha,it was as endearing to watch his pregnant wife cheer for him in that scorching heat. It was an ‘awwww’ scene…his baby is really proving to be lucky for him:)

wISH yesterday’s match would have had no winner… it was heart breaking … !!
D: I know,Hitchy..as much as I was cheering for Federer,my heart went out to Roddick too…he so deserved to win the match,as much! But then thats what happens in any game…there has to be a winner…and Federer just happened to have that slight edge 🙂

Oh what a match it was. 16-14 .. what an epic of a final to remember. After Nadal vs Federer last season, we cud not have been happy with anything less. And congrats to all the Federer fans ; me belongs to the Nadal fan club 😛

Everyone is writing about Federer’s win, I too thought of writing one. Then thought otherwise, I will comment in all the Fed posts!
Yes, he deserved to win, though Roddick played better in more areas. Roger’s experience helped him to win, this time. I too am a Federer fan – my whole family! But last time we appreciated Nadal and this time Roddick too. It is not easy to play opposite a smiling face tough guy!
D: You too,Sandhya??..My family too is a die-hard Federer fan-my father,brother,husband and myself 🙂 . You’re right it was Roger’s experience that really helped him clinch it in the end.
Did you notice – Roddick said while receiving his prize to Pete: “Pete, I did my best to help you keep the record, but couldn’t!” Federer too praised Roddick and last time Nadal, whole heartedly. Roddick too appreciated Federer. I love this nature of these sportsmen, Deeps.
D: Yes yes,I did,and I really felt bad for Roddick.This sportman spirit is such a treat to watch isnt it? Federer and Nadal,despite being arch rivals,have immense respect for each other. You remember how Nadal stood by Federer’s side when he was all shattered and in tears after losing the Australian open? That was so humbling 🙂

totally lost track here..those were the days of monica seles and steffi graf when i used to get hooked on to sunday tv..i have no clue whats goin on now!!

Yes, I remember Nadal’s feelings at that time. I love these guys for being so nice people. They always appreciate each other even when they lose their match to the other person.
Remember Chris Evert and Navratilova? They were very good friends, off the court!
