you are very nice to have opened a new account for bloggers whom you rarely know. I on the other hand reject the requests from unknown bloggers. If the request comes the second time, I block the person πŸ˜‰

that suits me. I even delete existing friends if they are spamming or intruding in my privacy (done that thrice :P)

I feel, bloggers you do not know much, it’s better to reject the request. If I add Deep’s Perception as my friend (spotted you on Corcodile’s Tales, now that account has been deleted I guess :D), and later on we become good friends and I am still contacting the virtual you – ermmmm, thoda problem hai na? πŸ™‚

to each her own..as I said, you are very nice..thanks for mentioning my post here πŸ™‚

    1. It depends,Neha. I have many friends who I came to know through the medium of blogging who are very close to me today and they are listed there in my personal account too.

So if we become good friends later on, I’d definitely send you an invitation to join my personal network. To accept or to reject is of course entirely upto you which I know I will respect too.

So there, I found a solution for that πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

now that you are referring to “So if we become good friends later on, I’d definitely send you an invitation to join my personal network.”, you mean me or in general? πŸ˜€ *wicked grin* I love to put people in such situation πŸ˜€

  2. I totally agree with you on this πŸ™‚

Ever since I’d read Neha’s post yesterday night, I had been thinking on the very same lines of writing to bring my point forward.

I am so glad you did it Deeps πŸ˜›

In fact when I had started blogging, I used to write using my real name, but things didn’t seem to go the way i would have loved them to, hence I chose to use a ‘pen-name’.

D: I didnt have any objection to my real name being exposed..the reason I chose Deeps was purely because I liked the sound of it and it was what I was known by in my friends circle :).

Thank you for writing this post πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

D: You’re welcome CB. I’m glad you could relate to this post πŸ™‚

Deeps, I dont know how you manage two accounts in FB, I just cant manage even one…I login once in a week, to see what my frnds were upto. My FB is never so personal, so I am happy with this one account.

D: I’m quite active on FB because as I mentioned most of my family members are listed there and I can use it as a common platform to share my photos and other personal stuff :). As for my other account, I recently activated it to mainly promote my blog and stay updated with other fellow bloggers πŸ™‚

Sometimes, I get confused with my Yahoo, Gmail, WP, FB, Twitter passwords… πŸ™„

D: ha ha ha..you’re funny, Ums! I hardly use twitter and gmail!

  3. dual personality..eh?I would have opened accounts but forgotten passowrds to both or got them interchanged..so difficult to manage all these..when time is so short and work so much!

D: LOL… I had to activate a separate account, Sindhu for the reasons I mentioned above πŸ˜€

D: Hey, Sash… so good to have you back and I’m glad you understand my perception πŸ™‚

  4. That is exactly why I did it too, Deeps. It was getting a little uncomfortable, you know, when people you din’t even read, send you requests.. Of course, as you say, when we do get comfortable, we have no issues including them in our personal account.

D: Thats what bothered me too, Smits. I would get invites from people who would have never ever commented on my posts and yet assume that I would accept their invites.

This post so well says, everything I would have wanted to, on this subject.

  5. Deeps, I share the same views too. So many ppl send me invites and I dnt like to accept the invites. Bcoz, ppl there on my list r very close to my heart … even if there r ppl whom I met only thru the blog world, they mean a lot to me.

    D: Precisely how I feel πŸ™‚

I hv still nt got to the 2 accounts thing πŸ˜‰ I reject invites which I am nt comfortable with. I know its not a very gud thing to do. But all the personal stuff and pics I share, I dnt want them to be seen by anyone and everyone. Letz c hw it goes.

From my side, I never send invites to ppl til I feel we r much more than blog friends πŸ™‚

    1. I think you’ve spoken for all of us here, Deeps. I opened the Crocodile’s tales account and it lasted less than 2 weeks I think. I simply cannot manage multiple accounts and that’s why I closed it. Infact I was just telling Neha this the other day, when she said she had just written a post on it.

D:I’m able to manage, at least for now, Pals. I do check both my accounts when I’m online. Dont know how far I’ll be able to though..Lets see πŸ™‚

And yeah, Deeps, we all second and third and fourth you in this post πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    Thank u thank u for this post… πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Seriously it was getting a little unnerving to get requests from a bunch of unknown ppl whom I didn’t know or neither read the blog but still wants to be friends with you!! Crazy na!! My FB has my friends and close to heart ppl, ppl with whom I have shared a past and a present and would love to share anything random with any day… πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

The blog one, for everybody who is a blogger or claims to read mine!! (fat chance):P

D: Fat chance?? C’mon give yourself some credit, Ash..you have so many followers who look forward to reading your posts regularly. I know I’m one of them πŸ™‚

Now time to delete that post I wrote my FB duality b/c it is a carbon copy of urs πŸ™‚

  7. Yeah, thats what I thought as well. But I haven’t checked whether you’ve deleted me from your real account… Lemme do that now and then @#$%^

    D: πŸ˜› πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

he he… just kidding. Thankfully, I don’t get a lot of invites otherwise I would’ve created a dual account as well.

D: Its much safer to have a separate account exclusively for your blog, I feel.

But then sometimes I think, I need a different account for my office colleagues.

  8. And to add to my earlier comment, I get a lot of requests from bloggers who use pseudo names and I definitely REJECT all of them. I think its just fair that if someone wants to know more about the other person, then he/she should be just as transparent.

D: I had got an invite a few weeks back from someone who I had seen commenting on other blogs but the person had never commented on any of my posts. What bothered me was how the person just assumed I’d accept the invite..Thats wrong,na.

I see no point in having Blogger friends as friends on FB when they refuse to share even their REAL NAME!!! Phew…

  9. It does make sense, but there is always an option to not accept the friend requests, rt? I mean, if you are a private person and if you dont people to contact you through those kinda sites, reject them! If they are sensible people they would understand why you rejected them; if they arent, then they dont deserve to be in any of your friends list. simple, na ? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

D: Correct, Vims. But having an account exclusively for my blog enabled me to bring even those bloggers into my network whose articles I follow and who also read my posts, despite not knowing them personally. So I felt this was a great way of keeping them updated about my blog and vice-versa. For eg there’s an application called ‘Networked Blogs’ that I and a lot of us have subscribed to which automatically uploads our articles and sends alerts to all those who are there in our network as and when we publish a new post. So its a great tool to promote your blog too πŸ™‚

  10. Yes, yes and yes….getting requests from unknown people (on personal level)is uncomfortable, i don’t see anything wrong in having a dual face book account. My ‘EveryDay Musings” page is under construction of face book :-), so I will join the bandwagon very soon!!

  11. I totally agree with you, Deeps. In fact I opened the ‘Piper’ account for the very same reason. However, the privacy policies of FB sucks big time! They show friends recommendations. And since my url is also a part of my name and also because I have some blog friends who are on both the accounts, invariably I find people are able to place me anyway! πŸ™‚
That said, the main reason I wanted a second account is because I didnt want some members of my extended family to find out about my blog – not because of random people but because of my own extended family!! πŸ™‚

D: Thats a valid reason too, Mish :).

  13. Just wondering what happened to everybody as everybody sending request with their blog titles.. here I got it πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I am sure Deeps… I can’t manage 2 FB accounts… I can’t even manage 2 gmail accounts… there is one yahoo id(college group) which I will check when somebody tells me we have got mail πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

But your reason is right… we will feel insecure.. even I am getting some random requests… but I don’t approved them…

D: I used to do that initially, Kanagu..rejecting unwanted requests that is..I still do that when I get invites from spammers. And then I felt opening a separate account was a much safer option if I had keep my privacy intact.

  15. Hmmm let me see after reading all the comments and replying to them I forgot what you were telling 😦

I don’t know about others but it’s very very difficult for a person like me to manage so many accounts. Once when I saved my username and password on my laptop and used it like for months without having to type it out and then out of the blue husband decided to format the system. All hell broke loose when I got to know that I don’t remember both the username and the password. The poor husband had to call all the computer gods he knew to help.

That said I really understand your need to have a separate account for bloggers especially when you have pics of family and friends in your private account. There is this funny incident that happened. Usually when I get requests from ppl I don’t know I send a message asking politely (ok that means the way I usually talk) if I know them. So once I got a reply back saying that the lady was a huge fan of my cooking blog 😯 and wants to be my friend. Thinking she mistook me for someone else I replied saying that I am not a food blogger and write only nonsense. She got offended and wrote back saying that if I had doubts about who she is I should have simply ignored her request.

D: Thats so bad, she should have respected your decision to not accept the invite

Now let me tell you why I don’t reject the request before asking the person who he/she is. After coming to this blogging business I have met so many great friends like you and the other Blogeeters πŸ˜‰ So I still believe that blogging does help in making friends who will be close to you for a lifetime πŸ˜₯ (sigh! senti things I write for comments) ahhh so what was I blabbering? So I think I should be giving at least one opportunity for that future friend to tell me in a few words who they are and why they think having a crazy mad on the loose girl like me for a friend would bring some entertainment in their life? Is that too much to ask before accepting a life long status update torture??

D: Awwww..I know,chakkaroos..meeting bloggers like you and having you for a friend for lifetime has been one of my greatest gains of blogging too

Ps: the moment I see a request from some guys with cute SRK, Johnny Depp pics saying they want to be ma frnzzz I delete without even asking them who they are 😦 Na not bcoz of what you think, I value my laptop time too much to let it be snatched away from me by an enraged husband πŸ˜₯

  17. he he he Now I am in turmoil shud i be agreeing with you .. lest neha gets angry πŸ™‚

anyway which account have i made into tell tell πŸ™‚

well now then you told us why you had the two accounts it makes sense, But What i have a problem with two accounts is the people who make the second account and want to stay anonymous, I mean I can understand you have one accout for family and all , the other for blog friends , fair enough.. But what about people who have one account for same reasons as you..

But a second one for being idiots , spamming otheers or just for the fun sake .. I had this person who wud not stop sending me messages and friend requests , it came from Two different people of ID’s .. in the end I had to ask my IT people to put a trace and it seemed the requests were beign sent from same IP address.. Now that is sick .. dont you think.

D: Oh yes it is definitely sick, Bik. We are better off with not having such spammers in our network

It felt good though.. This was before I had my picture on FB , the day i put it no one sent me requests .. ah well that says it all he he he he πŸ™‚

Well my rule in Facebook is simple, i never accept friend requests from my enemies, stalkers, friends of enemies,co-workers,bosses,teachers & people i owe money .

i delete my friends when they start showing off their ‘brand new blackberry’ and albums showing ‘Hey look my new office’ ,’my chair’, ‘my swimming pool with my blackberry’,’Oh look,im standing next to a girl with my blackberry’,’me in dufai with someone else’s Expensive car in the background’
Just to let u know,I didnt make that up..i hate it when you switch on ur computer in the morning and see such status updates like
“@ swimming pool On Blackberry”.That totally ruins my whole day!I even went and asked him “do you swim with your damn phone man??Nirthada ninte ahangaram jaada pishashe”
